Welcome to Helena College
Year 6 at Helena College
By the time students finish Year 5, they area are ready for new challenges and excited to embrace a broader range of experiences. By Year 6, many students are also ready for new faces and new places, ready to establish the new routines and friendship groups that will help them to make a success of their high school journey. The Year 6 program at Helena College provides a gentle introduction to secondary school in a safe and caring environment.
As the end of the 2024 school year approaches, we know that some students who will be entering Year 6 at Helena College in 2025 may have questions about what to expect. So we asked the resident experts - the current Year 6s! We hope that the insights from our Year 6s will address some of the questions the incoming Year 6s may have.

Helena College offers a number of optional activities to Senior School students, including a wide variety of clubs and academic support sessions. Information on the programs will be made available on the Learning Management System.
In addition, Senior School students may opt to participate in our interschool sports programs, through the ACC, NEAS and IPSHA, amongst others. Students should keep an eye on the Daily Notices on our Learning Management System for the nomination process.
For those who love music, or who are (or wish to) learn an instrument, we invite you to consider enrolling in the Instrumental Music program. Find out more here (downloadable PDF).
During the course of the year, other opportunities will arise, either via selection, application or signing up, such as the Creative Writing Club, Debating, Futures Challenge, Titrations Competition, Robocup Junior, Wellbeing Club and many more. Students are encouraged to read the Notices on the Learning Management System to find what activities are on offer.
Helena College supplies a device for all students. In Year 6, all students will be provided with a school-owned laptop, which they will be able to take home. The fees for the College’s 1:1 device (laptop) program are incorporated into the annual tuition fee. Use of the device is governed by the Student Code of Conduct and the ICT Policy, both of which can be viewed on the Policy page of the website.
If you require any further information, or would like to provide additional information about your child, please email the relevant Head of Year/Director.
